Our goal is simple: that every person who joins LocalRoots makes at least one trade that makes their life a little better and meets at least one neighbor they're glad they know.

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and the city or town you choose to share. When you post a listing we store the content of that listing. When you send a message we store that message so both parties can read it. That's it.

We do not collect your precise location, phone number, payment information, or any financial data. We do not track you across other websites. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

Your name and city are shown on your public profile so other members can know who they're trading with. Your email is used only to send you account-related communications confirmation emails, password resets, and (if you opt in) notifications when someone messages you. We do not send marketing emails.

Your name, city, listings, and reviews are visible to other LocalRoots members. Your email address is never shown publicly. Your messages are private between you and the person you're messaging.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted infrastructure provider. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information from unauthorized access.

You can update or delete your account at any time from your profile settings. If you would like all of your data permanently deleted, contact us and we will action it within 30 days. You have the right to request a copy of the data we hold about you.

LocalRoots uses only essential cookies required for you to stay logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

If we make meaningful changes to this policy we will notify members by email and update the date at the top of this page. We will never make changes that reduce your privacy rights without clearly telling you first.

If you experience a misleading listing, aggressive behavior, or anything concerning, please report it. We take every report seriously and accounts that violate community standards are removed.

LocalRoots is a free platform that lets people post listings and arrange trades with other members. We provide the platform the trades themselves happen between members directly. We are not a party to any trade and take no responsibility for the outcome of trades between members.

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under your account. Use your real name and accurate information fake profiles undermine the trust that makes LocalRoots work.

You can post genuine offers to trade food, garden goods, skills, and household items. You cannot post anything illegal, dangerous, counterfeit, or stolen. You cannot post spam, misleading listings, or anything intended to defraud other members. We reserve the right to remove any listing and suspend any account that violates these principles.

LocalRoots facilitates connections between members we do not verify the quality, safety, or accuracy of any listing. Members are responsible for their own due diligence before agreeing to a trade. In serious cases involving fraud or safety concerns, contact us at contact us.

Treat every member with respect. Harassment, threats, discrimination, or abuse of any kind will result in immediate account suspension. LocalRoots exists to build community anyone working against that purpose has no place here.

LocalRoots is for personal, non-commercial trades between individuals. You may not use LocalRoots to run a business, resell goods at profit, or engage in commercial activity of any kind. This is a community platform, not a marketplace.

LocalRoots is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it running reliably but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for any losses arising from trades between members, technical issues, or anything beyond our reasonable control.
